Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita

Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita was once one of the most celebrated printmakers in the Netherlands - an innovator in woodcut, linocut, and decorative design. A teacher to Escher and a gifted observer of both nature and form, his work combined precision with deep poetic energy. Yet his name nearly disappeared from history. As a Jewish artist during the Second World War, de Mesquita and his family were murdered in Auschwitz. His art, nearly lost, was hidden and later rediscovered by students and archivists. This collection honours both his brilliance and his silence - restoring his legacy one print at a time.
